The Amazing Race Asia 1, Leg 6 Timeline: Speed Almost Kills

Day Nine
Sunday, June 4th, 2006

The seven remaining teams leave from Auckland Museum:

Teams are directed to fly to Dunedin. They are specifically told to fly on Air New Zealand's domestic service (as opposed to the route connecting in Zurich?). They will find marked four-wheeldrives at the airport containing their next clue.

All teams take an 8am flight to Dunedin, arriving at 10:45am. They arrive together, and are shown reading the clues at the marked cars:

*The other six teams are shown and ranked arriving at the cars, but Howard/Sahran are not shown and no team is shown in 6th place.

Teams must drive their cars 280 kilometres to Queenstown. There, they must get to a specified Caltex petrol station and refuel their cars, paying with a provided credit card, in order to get the next clue. Teams arrive at the station and get the clue:

*On the way to Queenstown, Andy/Laura got pulled over for speeding (at 146km/h) and Andy's licence was revoked for the duration of his stay in New Zealand.

The clue at the petrol station is this week's:

Luge <--DETOUR--> Ledge

Whichever option teams choose, they must first take a skilift to the top of Bob's Peak in Queenstown before hiking to their task.
Teams selecting LUGE must complete a tag-team relay of the 830-metre-long luge circuit, doing eight laps in total in order to get the next clue. PROS: Less scary. CONS: Each player has to complete the circuit four times.
Teams selecting LEDGE must each perform the AJ Hackett Ledge Swing (essentially a bungy jump). Both team members must complete the swing to get the next clue. PROS: Each player only has to do the task once. CONS: Much scarier.

Teams are directed to drive themselves to Arrowtown, a gold-mining settlement, and search for their next clue. They find it:

Teams must now drive to Off-Road Adventures, where they must ride along a marked course on quad bikes. When they arrive, teams discover that the task is closed for the night.

Day Ten
Monday, June 5th, 2006

Teams finish their quad bike ride:

And encounter a:

ROADBLOCK
"Who can fall 134m in 8.5 seconds?"

Before the task, teams must travel to the Nevis Valley. There, the chosen team member will travel across to the Nevis Highwire Platform and bungy jump. Though the task is first-come-first-served, team members will forfeit their place in line if they fail to jump within two minutes after arriving on the platform. The chosen team members jump:

The final clue of the leg directs teams to drive themselves to the Pit Stop at the Chard Farm Winery and Vineyard. Teams arrive and are greeted by a guy who almost-but-not-quite resembles Phil Keoghan:
