The Amazing Race Asia 1, Leg 12 Timeline: I Think You're The Brains, Which Makes Me The Brains

Money for this episode: $45.00 (except Mardy/Marsio who get nothing).
Money for the entire race: $594.00, plus whatever was given for Legs 3, 5, 7, the first half of Leg 9, and the previous leg.

Day Twenty-Two
Friday, June 16th, 2006

The final four teams leave from the Margham Desert Camp Theatre Restaurant, about 35 kilometres outside Dubai:

7:45am - Sandy/Francesca
+6min - Andrew/Syeon (7:51am, per Francesca, though the graphic shows the same time as Zabrina/Joe Jer)
+21min - Zabrina/Joe Jer (8:06am)
+min - Mardy/Marsio (8:20am)

Teams are directed to lead their cars and drivers from the previous leg to Desert Area 53. Teams arrive:

1) Sandy/Francesca
2) Andrew/Syeon
3) Zabrina/Joe Jer
4) Mardy/Marsio

The clue is a:

Ride <--DETOUR--> Seek

Teams selecting RIDE must ride a camel through a marked course to retrieve five flags, using only a camel stick to direct the camel. PROS: Potentially fast. CONS: Controlling the camel will be difficult.
Teams selecting SEEK must use a metal detector to search for a steel camel souvenir buried somewhere within a marked area. PROS: Not difficult. CONS: Potentially slow.

Teams choose options and finish:

1) Andrew/Syeon, who chose Ride
2) Sandy/Francesca, who originally chose Ride, then switched to Seek, then switched back to Ride
3) Zabrina/Joe Jer, who chose Ride
4) Mardy/Marsio, who chose Ride

Teams are directed to find the Eye of the Emirates ferris wheel in Dubai. There, each cabin in the ferris wheel contains one clue envelope. Five of the envelopes contain the correct clue, but the rest tell teams to try again. In either case, teams must ride the wheel for one full revolution before moving on. Teams arrive at the wheel:

1) Sandy/Francesca
2) Andrew/Syeon
3) Zabrina/Joe Jer
4) Mardy/Marsio

And find a correct clue:

1) Andrew/Syeon, in cabin 19, on their first attempt
2) Zabrina/Joe Jer, in cabin 26, who take at least ten attempts
3) Sandy/Francesca, in cabin 37, who take at least 21 attempts
4) Mardy/Marsio, in cabin 4, who take at least ten attempts

Which is a:

ROADBLOCK
"Who's the brains of the team?"

Before the task, teams must first travel to the al-Raghdan Restaurant. There, the chosen team member must eat an Arabian delicacy -- brains and bread. Once they have finished one serving, they will be given their next clue. The chosen team members finish:

1) Syeon [Andrew 5, Syeon 6]
2) Joe Jer [Zabrina 5, Joe Jer 6]
3) Sandy [Sandy 6, Francesca 5]
4) Marsio [Mardy 5, Marsio 5]

Teams are directed to take a taxi to Sheikh Saeed al-Maktoum's house, where they must search the premises for their next clue. Teams arrive at the house and find the clue:

1) Andrew/Syeon
2) Zabrina/Joe Jer
3) Sandy/Francesca
4) Mardy/Marsio

Teams must now drive themselves to Wild Wadi, one of the largest theme parks outside the United States, where they must ride the Jumeirah Sceirah, a 108-metre water slide. Teams ride the slide and are given their next clue:

1) Andrew/Syeon
2) Zabrina/Joe Jer
3) Sandy/Francesca
4) Mardy/Marsio

The final clue tells teams to drive to the Pit Stop at Mina A'Salam Beach. Teams arrive:

1) Andrew/Syeon, who win a holiday to the Gold Coast, Australia, courtesy of Caltex
2) Zabrina/Joe Jer, who become the first all-female team in TAR history to make the final three
3) Sandy/Francesca
4) Mardy/Marsio, who are eliminated.
