The Amazing Race Asia 1, Leg 13 Timeline: Thank God For Women

Money for the entire race: $744.00, plus whatever was given for Legs 3, 5, 7, 10, and the first half of Leg 9.

Day Twenty-Three
Saturday, June 17th, 2006


The final three teams are scheduled to depart from Dubai:

3:23am - Andrew/Syeon
+17min - Zabrina/Joe Jer (3:40am)
+63min - Sandy/Francesca (4:26am)

Teams must first solve a jigsaw puzzle to reveal their next destination before getting the clue. The picture is the logo used by the Malaysian government to advertise fifty years since independence from Britain. Teams solve the puzzle and get the clue:

1) Andrew/Syeon
2) Zabrina/Joe Jer
3) Sandy/Francesca

It directs them to fly to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. When they land, they must take a taxi to the Menara Kuala Lumpur, which was the first Pit Stop, and get their next clue at the base.

Teams fly to Kuala Lumpur:

Via Bangkok

Direct
2=) Andrew/Syeon, Zabrina/Joe Jer

They get to the Menara Kuala Lumpur:

1) Zabrina/Joe Jer
2) Andrew/Syeon
3) Sandy/Francesca

And are directed to fly to Kucing, in the Malaysian province of Sarawak.

Day Twenty-Four
Sunday, June 18th, 2006

Teams fly to Kucing on the same direct flight. When they arrive, they must drive themselves from the airport to "a cat statue". However, there are several such statues in the city, and teams are not told which statue the clue is at. Teams find the correct one and get the clue:

1) Andrew/Syeon
2) Zabrina/Joe Jer
3) Sandy/Francesca

They must now drive themselves to the Old Courthouse. Teams arrive:

1) Andrew/Syeon
2) Zabrina/Joe Jer
3) Sandy/Francesca

And find a:

Brain <--DETOUR--> Brawn

Teams selecting BRAIN must completely and correctly assemble a wooden park bench, using only a Sony Cybershot picture of a completed bench for reference. PROS: Not physical. CONS: Potentially confusing.
Teams selecting BRAWN must find a marked fruit stall, choose a shoulder basket each, and use them to deliver thirty kilograms of fruit to the waterfront. PROS: Not confusing. CONS: Physical.

All teams choose Brain, and complete the task:

1) Andrew/Syeon
2) Sandy/Francesca
3) Zabrina/Joe Jer

Teams are directed to drive to the Sarawak Cultural Village, 35 kilometres away, and search among the longhouses for a cluebox containing correct clues. Teams find the clue:

1) Sandy/Francesca
2) Zabrina/Joe Jer
3) Andrew/Syeon

They must now use blowpipes to hit six hanging pineapples with blowdarts, with each person hitting the three pineapples of their chosen colour (red or yellow) in order to get the next clue. Teams complete this task:

1) Sandy/Francesca
2) Zabrina/Joe Jer
3) Andrew/Syeon

And receive the clue for their final:

ROADBLOCK
"Who can swing like Tarzan?"

Before the task, teams must first drive themselves to the Permai Rainforest Resort. There, the chosen team member must don provided safety gear, and complete the high ropes course. The task is first come, first served, and players will get their next clue when they finish. The chosen team members start and finish:

1) Zabrina [Zabrina 6, Joe Jer 6]
2) Francesca [Sandy 6, Francesca 6]
3) Andrew [Andrew 6, Syeon 6]

The final clue of the race directs teams to take a boat to Baku National Park, and search the mangrove boardwalks for the finish line. Teams finish:

1) Zabrina/Joe Jer, who win US$100,000
2) Sandy/Francesca
3) Andrew/Syeon
