The Amazing Race Asia 1, Leg 4 Timeline: But Handycams Don't Go Click, Dammit!

NOTE: The copy of this episode I was able to find has mismatched audio for a stretch in the centre of the episode, so I apologise if I make mistakes anywhere in between completing the Detour and arriving at the RoadBlock. Day Five
Tuesday, May 30th, 2006

The teams leave from Tanah Lot, Bali:

Teams are directed to fly to Sydney, Australia. They must buy their tickets before arriving at the airport, and are allowed to use phone, internet, or a travel agency to do so.

All teams take the same route, flying AirAsia to Singapore, then Qantas to Sydney...

Day Six
Wednesday, May 31st, 2006

...arriving predawn the next day. Teams must take taxis to Dawes Point (in The Rocks), where they find their next clue at Pier 1:

And encounter a:

Elevation <--DETOUR--> Crustacean

Whichever task teams choose, they must travel to the location specified on foot.
Teams selecting ELEVATION must climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge. PROS: Quick. Nearby. CONS: Scary. First come, first served.
Teams selecting CRUSTACEAN must travel to Doyle's at the Quay, a famous nearby restaurant, where they must dehead and shell fourteen kilograms of prawns to the satisfaction of a chef. PROS: Not scary. Multiple teams can perform at once. CONS: Slower. Farther away.

Teams choose options and complete them:

3) Howard/Sahran, who chose Elevation
4) Zabrina/Joe Jer, who originally chose Crustacean but switched to Elevation
5) Andrew/Syeon, who chose Crustacean

8) Sahil/Prashant, who chose Crustacean, and had to redo the task

The next clue directs teams to travel on foot to Mrs. Macquarie's Chair, a rock formation on the edge of Sydney Harbour. They arrive:

They must now take a taxi to the World Square Shopping Centre and find the SonyCentral store. There, they will pick up a Sony HD Handycam, and must record a local singing a traditional bush ballad called "Click Go The Shears". Lyrics are provided, and teams must record someone singing them in the correct melody in order to get the next clue. Teams arrive at the store to get their cameras:

Teams must now get back to Circular Quay, and take a ferry to Manly. There, they must find the clue at OceanWorld, though they are only told that "dangerous Australian animals" will lead them to their next clue. Teams arrive at OceanWorld:

And encounter a:

ROADBLOCK
"Who wants to take the plunge with a nurse?"

In this RoadBlock, the chosen team member must enter put on provided SCUBA diving gear, enter the four-million-litre aquarium at OceanWorld, then search for the clue. The clues have been placed atop a glass observation tunnel, and they must swim upwards in order to reach them. The chosen team members finish the task:

3) Melody [Sharon 1, Melody 2]
4) Mardy [Mardy 2, Marsio 1]
5) Joe Jer [Zabrina 1, Joe Jer 2]

7) Howard [Howard 2, Sahran 1], who takes the four-hour quitting penalty, to be assessed at the Pit Stop
8) Sahil [Sahil 2, Prashant 1]

The final clue of this leg directs teams to take a ferry back to Circular Quay, and from there take a floating taxi to the Pit Stop at the Bounty Tallship, a replica of one of the English ships used to colonise Australia in the 1700's. Teams arrive:

4) Mardy/Marsio, complete with crappy "G'Day Mate" accent
